      Letting Go by Assad Malik

He holds me in his arms
Gently rocking back and forth
As his fingers gently nestle through my hair
He whispers, "It's okay"
The emotions within arise
But a part of me wants to fight them
I am a man, not a woman
Must be strong and push these feelings down
Aware of my reluctance, he looks into my eyes
And says "You no longer have to pretend.
It's okay.  Allow yourself to feel"
His tenderness pierces through my outer shell
I can no longer resist.
Sobbing uncontrollably
Out burst years of pain and sorrow
For the first time, I am safe to feel
These streaming tears have created a new freedom.
The freedom to let go
